For three years, using AI meant opening a chat window, pasting text, and asking for a summary. Today, that passive dynamic officially broke. UK fintech giant Starling Bank debuted Starling Assistant, built on Google Cloud’s Gemini framework.

Instead of answering static FAQs, this AI operates as an active financial co-pilot inside live business accounts. It continuously audits account transactions, automatically ring-fences estimated income tax and VAT into isolated sub-accounts, and analyzes incoming invoices in real time to flag fraudulent payment detail changes before money ever leaves the bank.
